The grassroots project will be the first project of its kind, the project aims to have a data driven development model. Meaning each training session and match will be filmed, analysed and visualised to evidence and monitor the progress of the players and their development as players and as a team.

The idea is that data can help us develop sports players to perform better. Not very original I know. However, we will use data more specifically to develop individual players technique and how those technique align with increased team performance.

Once the data is interpreted, it will form part of the plan for future sessions and matches to ensure each session and match are aligned in what targets we set out to achieve.

We are familiar with the practice spectrum. Where we carry out technique to skill practices, using repetitive technique practices typically unopposed and progress to directional opposed skill practices. We rarely film, analyse, collect data and visualise this data. This could be used to monitor, reflect and feedback the progress of a player’s development. It could also help us better design and deliver practices to improve technique and skill.

We aim to be the very first data driven grassroots football team.
